Welcome to Sofasaurus
Hi, my name is Sofia. I’m a German-American crochet instructor and pattern designer. I first turned my hobby into a business in 2017 and have experience selling finished crochet pieces, patterns, and most importantly, teaching.
Sofasaurus Crochet teaches you how to crochet in a way that feels attainable using videos, photos, and written, and verbal instructions. Over time you’ll find yourself on a crochet journey that will expose you to new skills without feeling overwhelmed. Ultimately you’ll gain the confidence you need if you want to take your hobby to the next level.
The name came together as a happy little accident. “Sofasaurus” was a playful nickname my husband had for me whenever I felt hangry, but not many people knew about it. It felt like a safe username when I first started on TikTok and eventually people came to associate it with my crochet videos. I personally love the name and am so excited to see how far we can take it!

Experience & Certifications
My crochet instructions are based on real-life teaching experience and training. I became certified by the Craft Yarn Council to teach in 2018 when offering in-person lessons at a craft-store chain. While I focus on teaching nationally published standards, I also provide alternative techniques for more creative freedom.
Beyond that, I spent 8 years in the U.S. Army and graduated from Troy University with a B.S.B.A. in Global Business-Marketing.
