What is a Slip Stitch?

A slip stitch (sl st) is the shortest stitch in crochet, connecting stitches without adding much bulk. This is incredibly useful when joining to close rounds or joining seams. You can also use a slip stitch to move across stitches, secure edges, add embellishments, and create invisible decreases.

Insert your hook into the stitch
Yarn over
Pull the yarn through the stitch AND the loop on the hook

Keep your tension loose for slip stitches. Tight slip stitches can cause a variety of issues, including unintentionally cinching, ruffling, and curling.
